Jacqueline Newcomer Obituary

JACQUELINE NEWCOMER AGE: 89 MORRISTOWN Jaqueline (Guthrie) Newcomer, 89, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Morristown Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born in Topeka, Kansas, Jacqueline lived in Okinawa, Japan, The Canal Zone, Panama, Colorado Springs, CO, Falls Church, VA, and many other places before moving to Morristown, NJ in 1967. She was a Homemaker and a Secretary, having worked at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA; Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce in Colorado Springs; Lord & Taylor in Falls Church, VA; and Drew University in Madison, NJ. She graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison with a B.A. degree in 2000. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Morris Plains; Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) - Morristown Chapter and Past Regent; and Morristown Home & Garden Club. Jacqueline is survived by her loving husband, retired Col. Francis K. Newcomer, Jr. of Morristown; and her children: Elizabeth Gahart and her husband Ron of Bridgeton, NJ; Francis K. Newcomer, III and his wife Jeryl of Albuquerque, NM; Mary Newcomer of St. Ferreol, France; and Katherine Newcomer Scarano and her husband Louis of Pottersville, NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brent, Heidi, and Nathan Newcomer; René & Nicolas Gantet; Clarissa and Laura Scarano; as well as her great-granddaughter MacKenzie Rose Marchbanks; and her nieces and nephews: Steven; Jim; and Stuart Guthrie; and Janet Tettemer. A funeral service for Jacqueline will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 10:00AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 51 Mountain Way, Morris Plains. Interment will be private, and at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. Visiting will be on Monday, February 15, 2010 from 2-5pm at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jacqueline's name can be made to: Morristown Chapter DAR in benefit of the Schuyler-Hamilton House, c/o Morristown DAR, 5 Olyphant Place, Morristown, NJ 07960. Arrangements were under the care of Dangler Funeral Home, Morris Plains.
