Kenneth R. Mackey, 80, of Sand Springs, Drums, passed away Sunday afternoon at his home. Born in Jersey City, NJ, October 23, 1933, he was the son of William and Marjorie (Mackey) Grater and spent the past 10 years in Drums after moving from Long Valley, NJ. Prior to retiring in 1998, Kenneth was the General Manager for Warner Communications, Upper Montclair, NJ, where he had worked for over 30 years. He was a member of Good Shepherd RC Church, Drums, where he was active with the Faith Formation classes and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also an avid Ham Radio Operator and held a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by two sisters Mary Ellen Van Horn and Margaret Zellman; and a brother John Grater. Surviving are his wife of the past 59 years, the former Joan Palko; three children Kenneth Mackey and his wife Pamela, Independence, NJ; Teresa Mannerberg and her husband Scott, Lake Hopatcong, NJ; and Glenn Mackey and his wife Kristin, Glen Gardner, NJ; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Justin, Keith, Kevin, Taylor, Bryan, and Carson; seven great-grandchildren Ethan, Bracey, Logan, Kayla, Paige, Gavin, and Blake; two brothers William Grater, Toms River, NJ; and Thomas Grater and his wife Kathy, Ridgefield Park, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Thursday with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Good Shepherd RC Church, 87 S. Hunter Highway, Drums. Friends may call at the church Thursday morning from 10 am until the time of the Mass. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at a later date in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Chester, NJ.
