Michael West Obituary

Michael Branden West went to heaven on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at Goryeb Children's Hospital in Morristown surrounded by his loving family. David and Diane West were blessed with Michael on March 6, 1992. He was born in Newton, New Jersey. In the years that followed, Michael was joined by his beloved siblings, Nicholas and Lauren. Michael lived in Hampton, NJ all his life and graduated from Kittatinny Regional High School in June, 2013. Michael left an indelible impression on all those whose lives he touched. Everyone knew Michael. He was a child with the purest joy in his heart and he made us all remember life's simple pleasures, without uttering a word. He loved watching Barney, playing with spoons, and clapping with anyone who would join him. He also loved dancing and running down the hallways of Kittatinny High School. Michael was present for all of his siblings' sporting events and the other parents loved and cared for him as if he were one of their own. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Michael is survived by his maternal grandparents, David and Judy Brennan of Mine Hill, NJ and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Elizabeth West of East Hanover, NJ. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and his beloved, long-time doctor who never gave up on him, Dr. Arthur Atlas.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 17th, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street (Rt. 206), Newton, New Jersey. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday, October 16th from 2-4 and 7 -9 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Respiratory Center for Children at Goryeb Children's Hospital Morristown Medical Center, 100 Madison Avenue Box 107, Morristown, NJ 07960. I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Michael, but from what I have read, he was a very special young man, and it is a great loss to everyone who knew him. Diane, I took a sign language class with you and I remember you speaking of Michael. I hope all the love and support you receive helps comfort you and your family at this difficult time.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we all feel about Michael's passing. His big strong hugs and contagious smile will be sadly missed, but he will always be warmly remembered.
