Robert Donnelly Obituary
Pompton Plains - Robert J. Donnelly of Cedar Crest in Pompton Plains, NJ, died peacefully on July 1, 2021 surrounded by his family.
Bob was the beloved husband, best friend and lifelong companion of Barbara for almost 52 years. Bob was born on November 2, 1930 in Queens, New York and for more than 90 years he graced our lives with his goodness and warmth. He was a loving husband to Barbara, devoted father to Kofi and Lisa, father-in-law to Hillary and Josh, and Pop-Pop to Sonny, Jacob, Sydney and Eliana.
He lived a life of thoughtful service, first as a religious Christian brother and then as a teacher, Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana with Barbara, father, grandfather and lifelong educator. His years in the classroom as a talented physics teacher in Philadelphia and Boonton left an indelible impression on his students.
Bob was a talented woodworker and a lifelong fan of classical music, tennis and, because of Barbara, the Philadelphia Eagles & Phillies. Everyone Bob touched with his gentleness & grace is a better person because of him. Be at peace now.
A memorial service and celebration of Bob's life will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 1pm at the Smoke Rise Village Inn, 9 Perimeter Road, Kinnelon, New Jersey. Repast to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's name can be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Next door neighbor, mentor, wonderful man! Bob Donnelly was my role model as a teacher; everyday I strive to be as good as he. He was always kind, patient, enthusiastic, loving with a very dry sense of humor. Rest in Peace! You will be missed.
