Dexter Keys Obituary

Mr. Dexter Keys

OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 600 S. Market St., Opelousas, LA 70570 for Mr. Dexter Keys a/k/a "Uncle Buck" and "Brother", 54, who passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Opelousas General Health System. Interment will be at Greater Union Baptist Church cemetery.

Pastor Junius Egby, Pastor of St. Mark United Methodist Church, will be officiating the funeral service.

Mr. Keys is survived by: his two sisters, Sandra Simmons (Clarence) of Opelousas, LA and Constance Major (Rogers) of Lake Charles, LA; two uncles, George Alexander, Jr. of Opelousas, LA and Bobby Keys of Baton Rouge, LA; three aunts, Pearl Kennerson and Verlee Andrus (Ervin), both of Opelousas, LA and Genevieve Backus (James) of Florence, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, Edmond and Thelma Alexander Keys; one sister, Jo Ann Keys; maternal grandparents, George and Cedonia Alexander; and paternal grandparents, Woodrow and Mary Dunbar.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Mark United Methodist Church.
