Mary Johnson Obituary
OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas for Mrs. Mary Verna Johnson, 74. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas.
Rev. Jaison Mangalath, S.V.D., will be officiating the funeral service.
Mrs. Johnson, a native of Leonville and resident of Opelousas, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011 in her residence. She was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by: her husband, Paul Johnson, Sr. of Opelousas; four sons, Paul Johnson, Jr. (Esther) of New Orleans; J. Floyd Johnson (Lysandra) of Lafayette; Christopher J. Johnson (Veronica) of St. Louis, Missouri; and Fabian Johnson (Ruby) of Denham Springs; two daughters, Sharon Johnson Patrick of Baton Rouge and Felozia Hammond (Henri) of Opelousas; son-in-law, Steven Hixon of New Orleans; three Godchildren, Mary Barbara "Bob" Lazard, Berita Willis and Carlton Thomas, Jr.; three brothers, Joseph "T-Boy" Junior (Late Selina Thomas) and Leland Thomas, Sr. (Earline), both of Leonville and Carlton Thomas, Jr. (Linda) of Opelousas; seven sisters, Philoman T. Mayon (Ulton, Sr.) and Rose Richard, both of Leonville; Verlia Lewis (Joseph, Sr.), Louanna Williams (Jimmy, Sr.) and Janella Beverly (J.C., Sr.), all of Opelousas; Felozia Reed and Elizabeth Green (Ronald, Sr.), both of Houston, TX; 20 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her daughter, Deborah Hixon; her parents, Carlton Thomas, Sr. and Lucille Alsandor Thomas; and two of her brothers, Henry and Harold Thomas.
Visitation will be observed from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2011 in Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

Mr. Paul Johnson
We used to be three(3)sets of Johnsons on Johnson Street. Now you are the only
living parent still on Johnson Street.
Keep your hand in God's hand and everything will be alright.
May love surround you and faith sustain you. May hope encourage you day by day.

To Beth and the family...Sympathy is not immense enough to express the whirlwind of emotions that we feel when our loved ones has transcended.
