Stephen John Gauthier
SUNSET - Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, for Stephen John Gauthier, 55, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 8:38 PM, at his residence in Sunset, surrounded by family.
Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Reverend Louis Allen Breaux, Pastor of St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church in Duson, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard, soloist, accompanied by Tom Niel, organist, will sing "I Have Loved You", "Psalm 23", "Here I Am Lord", "Ave Maria" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" for the services.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Katherine Schexnayder Gauthier of Sunset and one sister, Sarah Ellen Gauthier of Nashville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Gauthier, Jr. and Elizabeth Klipstein Gauthier.
Stephen Gauthier was born on August 27, 1955 in New Orleans, but was a resident of Lafayette for many years. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL) and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a salesman in the battery and tire business and became a sales manager for a farm machinery and implement business. Later, Mr. Gauthier managed real estate properties in the surrounding areas. Stephen Gauthier will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
A Rosary will be prayed on Thursday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
