Edna C. Orth

1930 - 2025

Edna C. Orth, age 94 of Sauk Centre, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at the Fairway Pines Assisted Living in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 13 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Kevin Soenneker officiating and Rev. Jim Maderak concelebrating. Interment was at St. Paul's Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Visitation was from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Edna Catherine Schmitz was born on August 29, 1930 in Richmond, Minnesota to Alois and Mary (Kammers) Schmitz. On August 29, 1955 she was united in marriage to Leonard Orth at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Edna worked at First State Bank in Sauk Centre for many years.

Edna was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Catholic United Financial, and the Christian Mothers.

She is survived by her sisters and brother, Dorothy Trisko of Sauk Centre, Mary (Daniel) of Albany, Alois Schmitz of Anoka, and Diane Schmitz of Waite Park; sisters-in-law, Lenore Schmitz of Melrose and Julie Schmitz of Anoka; and many nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Orth on October 9, 2020; parents; brothers and sisters, Richard Schmitz, Florian (Rosella) Schmitz, Leon (Betty) Schmitz, Susan (Gerald) Dirkes, Donald Schmitz; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Schmitz.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fairway Pines and CentraCare Hospice for their wonderful care they gave Edna.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
