Adabelle "Ginger" Burt
Adabelle "Ginger" Burt, age 91, of Norwalk, CT, formerly of Noank, CT, Ponce Inlet, FL and Darien, CT, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born in the Bronx, NY, daughter of the late Ada Belle and George Werdann, she graduated from Hunter College in Manhattan with a degree in elementary education. After marriage and a move to Connecticut, she and her husband, Malcolm, settled in Darien, where they raised their family. Destined to be an educator, she completed her master's degree and dedicated the next 25 years as a third grade teacher at Holmes School in the Darien Public School system, a career she treasured.
Upon retirement, she was devoted to many interests, including gardening, travel, the New York Times crossword puzzle and classic old movies. It was through her love of painting that she most expressed her creative talent. She was a gifted artist, whose artwork ranged from capturing the beauty in the everyday to childhood portraits of her children and grandchildren.
Ginger was predeceased by her beloved husband, Mac, and her siblings, George Werdann and Muriel Callahan. She is survived by her four children, Steven Burt (Elizabeth), MaryBeth Sullivan (Jim), Dave Burt (Bethany), and Christopher Burt; her four grandchildren, Cassie Burns (Brandon), Colin Cook (Sydney), Kevin Burt (Michelle), and Peter Burt (Addison); as well as her two adored great-granddaughters, Georgia and Maeve Burns. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ellen Blake, and brother, Theodore Werdann.
Her life was blessed with the joy of family, longtime friendships and her cherished toy poodles. There will be a private celebration of life in the Spring.
