Elizabeth Sisson Dolphin passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with metastatic breast cancer on August 15, 2021. Elizabeth was raised in Darien, CT and Wilmington, DE. An expert in environmental and land use planning, for 28 years she was responsible for comprehensive planning and community development for Farmington, CT. She continued her dedication to the preservation and interpretation of open space and natural resources as the Executive Director of the Farmington Land Trust. Her work was a natural extension of her personal interests which included wildlife photography, birding, hiking, biking, skiing, kayaking and reading. She received her BS from Ohio Wesleyan in Zoology and her MA in Planning from Antioch College. It is a tribute to her ever optimistic and compassionate nature that her smile and laugh will always be remembered by both close friends and colleagues. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Llewelyn Dolphin of Burlington, CT, her brother David Sisson and his four children and four grandchildren of Kennett Square, PA, her sister Karen Marshall Bartine, and her daughter also of Kennett Square, PA and a close-knit circle of cousins and friends. A celebration of her life will be held on October 9th at 10AM at the Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Road, Darien, CT. An interpretive birding program is being dedicated in her memory by the Farmington Land Trust. The dedication and reception will follow the Service at 3PM at the West District Nature Preserve on the Wilcox-Bushly Homestead, parking at 114 West District Road, Unionville, CT.
