Peter Edwards Nightingale of Darien, died in his home on Tuesday, Jan 14 He was 60 years old Mr Nightingale was born on Dec 1, 1953, the son of Stephen Edwards Nightingale and Sally Lord Nightingale Mr Nightingale was the middle of three brothers, including his older brother Stephen Lord Nightingale and his younger brother David Cleaves Nightingale
Mr Nightingale grew up in Darien, and attended the town's public schools during his childhood, before attending The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, from which he graduated in 1972 He later attended and graduated from Brown University (as a member of the class of 1976) and the New York University Stern School of Business
After meeting and dating in New York City, Mr Nightingale married Kim Jaqueline Cummings on Oct 20, 1979 in Saratoga Springs, NY
Mr Nightingale was a banker for the entirety of his career, working for a number of different institutions and in a number of different roles Mr Nightingale began his career with Manufacturers Hanover Corporation in New York City He later worked for Chemical Bank in both London and New York City, Chase Manhattan Corporation in New York City, FleetBoston Financial in New York City, Bank of America in New York City and finally NewStar Financial in Darien, where he worked from 2007 until his passing Additionally, Mr Nightingale served on the Board of Directors of Ring's End, Inc until his passing
Mr Nightingale loved the water and sailing, and was a lifelong member of the Noroton Yacht Club in Darien In his later years Mr Nightingale developed a passion for golf and was a member of the Silvermine Golf Club in Norwalk
Mr Nightingale served as a member of the board of directors of Person-to-Person, a charitable organization in Darien He was also an active member of the congregation at St Luke's Episcopal Parish in Darien
Mr Nightingale is survived by Kim, his wife of 34 years, and his two sons, Andrew and Scott, both of whom live in New York City
A memorial service will be held at St Luke's Episcopal Parish, 1864 Boston Post Road in Darien on Tuesday, Jan 21 at 11 am
