Rollin Teare
It is with great sadness that we share the loss of Rollin "Rollie" Hall Teare ,88. He passed away peacefully in Naples, FL on March 6, 2017. Rollie was raised in Bay Village, OH and attended Bay Village Ohio High School & Worcester Academy in MA. In 1951, Rollie received Bachelor of Science degree with honors at Cornell University, Ithaca NY. While at Cornell, he enlisted in the USAF where he served in active duty as an officer and subsequently remained in the reserves until 1960. His love for aviation inspired him to obtain his private pilot's license and join the Civil Air Patrol as a pilot. He later attended Case Institute of Technology, Cleveland, OH where he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
While living in Darien, CT, he worked for Marriott Corporation and American Machine & Foundry (AMF) in Stamford, CT. In 1965, Rollie founded Taylor Freezer of Connecticut as President and Treasurer. He not only took pride in his business, enjoyed working side by side with his co-workers. He sold his business to three of his key employees in 1987 when he retired to Sanibel Island, FL and later Naples, FL The business continues to thrive today as Taylor of Connecticut under the ownership and leadership of his former friend and employee Joe Sekelsky.
Rollie lived his life to the fullest and was the ultimate planner. He took great pleasure in keeping busy with his endless projects and hobbies and had a knack for solving problems. He was an avid tennis player and in his retirement years, became a talented "computer geek". Rollie loved aviation, cars, wood working, gardening, reading, classical music and traveling, particularly on long cruises.
He was predeceased by his son David. S. Teare. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend and mentor, full of life and wit. He is survived by his wife Patricia A. Teare; son and daughter Jeffrey S. Teare and Cynthia Teare (Tomasi) and brother William G. Teare, as well as his grandchildren Ashleigh Teare and Hunter Teare.
A memorial service will be held by his family at 11 a.m. on June 10, 2017 at The Crowell Chapel, Manchester-By-The-Sea, MA.
