WiLliam Taggart Obituary
William "Bill" Taggart, 88, of New Canaan, CT, passed away peacefully at home on August 15, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New York City in 1936 to Carolyn and Rush Taggart, Bill was the youngest of four and grew up in Rye, NY. He graduated from Deerfield Academy, Harvard University, M.I.T., and Harvard Business School. He spent his career in wealth management, holding positions at J.P. Morgan and BNY Mellon. Bill shared 48 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Elizabeth Hammett Taggart. He is survived by his children, William Jr., Gordon, Nancy Taggart Hegerty, Michael, Chris Nolan, and Hilary Nolan Cohen, and by his cherished grandchildren, with whom he shared his love of fishing and nature. Deeply committed to service, Bill held leadership roles with the Pegasus Foundation, Person-to-Person, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, the Pingry School, the New Canaan Historical Society and Museum, and was involved with the New Canaan Community Foundation. His wisdom, generosity, and quiet leadership touched many. A private family interment will be held.
