Arthur Clifford HIBBARD

1930 - 2018

HIBBARD, Arthur Clifford 88, of Springfield, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home May 24, 2018. Art was born in Harlan County, Kentucky, to the late Oscar and Mae (Parker) Hibbard on March 22, 1930. He graduated from Cumberland High School and soon after married Virginia Harris on September 4, 1951. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He was Quality Control Manager for the International Harvester Springfield Body Plant until his retirement in 1986. Art was an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats, Cincinnati Reds, and Cincinnati Bengals. He enjoyed friends, family, and his church in addition to camping and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Virginia; sister Vivian Cheek of Hamilton, Ohio; brother Joseph Hibbard, also of Hamilton; son David Hibbard and his wife, Marilyn of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; daughter Denise LaVelle and her husband, Doug of Avon Lake, Ohio; and son Brian Hibbard and his wife, Terri of Clarkston, Michigan. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Holly (Scott) Schmeiser, Christopher (Dana) Hibbard, Jessica (Nate) Davis, Matthew (Shannon) LaVelle, Kelsey Hibbard, and Megan Hibbard; and two great-grandchildren: Eloise LaVelle, and Hannah Schmeiser; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Carl and Pat Hibbard; and two sisters: Ilene Ryan and Ettie Howard. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 29th from 10-12:00p.m. at Northside Baptist Church, 2425 Derr Rd., Springfield, with funeral services immediately following at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend David Hill officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be held the next day at 2:00 p.m. in the Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton, Ohio.
