Family-Placed Obituary

FISHER, Charles B. age 83, of Vandalia, passed away Monday March 26, 2007 at Heartland of Piqua following an illness. He was born January 3, 1924 in Potsdam, OH, son of the late Charlie & Gladys (Weimer) Fisher. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Signal Corp. Charles was a member of Polk Grove United Church of Christ. He was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service, was a member of both the Ohio and National Rural Letter Carriers Assoc., the Miami Valley Bee Keepers Assoc. and the Ohio Bee Keepers Assoc. He was an Auctioneer in the Dayton area for many years and was a member of the Vandalia Butler Historical Society and a volunteer and member of Aullwood. Charles was also a member of the South Bass Historical Society and the A.O.P.A. He was preceded in death by one brother Harley Fisher. Mr. Fisher is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen S. (Evans) Fisher; 2 daughters Elaine M. & husband John Pleiman of Tipp City, Barbara E. & husband Joe Teodosio of Lima; one brother Virgil & wife Rose Fisher of FL; one sister Evelyn & husband Ron Schaefer of West Milton; 7 grandchildren Jennifer, Lydia, and Ian Pleiman, Anthony, Leanna, Alex, and Eric Teodosio, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 31 at 10:00am at the Polk Grove United Church of Christ, 9190 Frederick Pike with Rev. John Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Friday evening from 5 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Polk Grove U.C.C. Memorial Fund, or the Vandalia Butler Historical Society, or to Heartland Hospice in Charles' memory.

It was truly a pleasure to have known Charles. He was an honorable, intelligent man.
I am pleased to have had the opportunity to get to know him. May his memory be an inspiration to all of us. God Bless you and your family during this difficult time.

Charles was one of the greats: a great son, husband, father, grandpa, sibling, and friend. He was a valuable member of his country and community. Charles will be hugely missed and wonderfully remembered.
