HURD, David G. Sr. age 53, of West Carrollton, OH, formerly of Germantown, OH, passed away, Thursday, July 24, 2008. David was born April 11, 1955, in Dayton, OH the son of, James and Irene (Napier) Hurd. He was a Maintenance Welder for Metal Shredders, Inc, in West Carrollton. David was an outdoorsman. He loved fishing, music and playing the drums. In 1982 he was the Dayton Golden Glove Welter Weight Champion. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, David G. Hurd, Jr.; his daughter Bethany Hurd; and his former wife, Becky Hurd all of West Carrolton; his sister, Linda (James) Callahan of Germantown, OH; and 3 brothers, James (Sharon) Hurd, Jr. of Germantown, OH, Jerry (Aleta) Hurd of Miamisburg, OH, and Mark (Sharon) Hurd all of Germantown, OH; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. (tonight) Tuesday, July 29th, at the Dalton Funeral Home, Corner of State Route 4 & Weaver Rd., Germantown where the Funeral Service will be held 12 Noon Wednesday, with Pastor Lawrence Bishop officiating. Burial Highland Cemetery.

I'm a good friend of David's and miss him dearly. I stood by his side in the ring and always had his back. We fought arm in arm together in the ring and through life's ups and downs. He always was the life of the party. He stood by his beliefs and fought for his rights. He is and always will be my friend ... and brother.

I have known David my entire life... he was a good friend of my father Billy Harmon. He was always full of life and very kind to me as a child he will be missed and loved ... the world truly lost a champion !
