thanks for the memories......
well today we laid to rest another wonderful friend...... I hadn't seen him in probably 10 years.......,but it's still said to know he's gone....A kind, gentle, generous, man who afforded me a living wage to start my family.....some 30 odd years ago. As a young man....I was working as a remodelers helper....finishing up odd jobs around town......we were finishing a kitchen job for Dennis.....and he said he needed a man to drive a truck the next day.......the remodeler I was working with said he might be steadier work....so with a good reference.....I showed up at a big red barn @ 4:00 am.....met 3 other guys.....they gave me a 25 ft flatbed six wheeler...and we drove to Terre Haute......loaded all 4 trucks with hay.....made it back , and they asked me if I could drive to Lexington the next day..........and that started 10 + years, working for Dennis....hauling hay full time for six years....full access to "Throughbred" race horse farms......awww the memories......watching the yearlings and their mothers being turned out in the mornings......visiting regular farmers in the area all the way up north into Michigan....buying and selling hay an straw....alot of the beautiful old barns aren't around anymore either.....He loved the throughbreds.....had some horses himself ...an would love to listen to our days stories............ He would load up his Motorhome.....every spring with .....Accountants....Bankers....Business associates....8-10 of them.....an go down to Keeneland....for a day at the races,.........Clubhouse access......I would drive as chauffer....but they let me sit, eat drink an bet with them at the "Big Boys "table....awww what memories.......swap stories....and on the way home...stop at the Island...on the river or Windjammer in Cincinatti....one trying to out do the other.........an me.......just enjoying it all....and at the end of the day, Dennis would pay me for my services......He was quite a generous man....and had a beautiful an lovely family....Gaye an the three girls just tremendously enriched and blessed my life...always feeling like family...............so many fond memories flood through......but I thought I'd share a couple.

I am so sorry to hear about Dennis and I know he will be missed by so many. I have so many wonderful memories of being with you at church and your house and going along on vacations and how you treated me just like a part of your family. All of you were so generous to me and made me feel so at home. It is comforting to know that Dennis is at his eternal home and has no more suffering.

SHari, Gaye, Suzi, & Dyan:
I am heartbroken for you all. I was so sad to hear of Denny's passing. I remember him with fond memories thinking back on being at your house when Shari & I were teens. I'm also very sad that I will not be able to attend the viewing/funeral as I'm on vacation in Florida with Mom and Dad until Sunday. I'm so sorry about that. I am praying that you all will feel God's presence and strength more than ever. I'm sure Denny is at peace as his suffering is now at an end. Love you all so much...
