News Death Notice

POLING, Gregory A. age 49, of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010 at his residence after his courageous battle with ocular melanoma. He was born July 24, 1961 in Dayton, Ohio. Greg was an employee of IMDS, formerly Leis Medical where he was a loyal, dedicated employee and friend for over 15 years. He worked actively in the machining industry for 30 years. Greg was an avid NASCAR & drag racing fan, but was truly the biggest fan of his two sons and sharing in all of their activities. Preceded in death by his father, Robert Poling, Greg is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Bonnie (Cottenmyre); 2 sons, Zachary & Cody; his mother, Barbara; grandmother, Anna Lewis; step-mother, Alberta Poling; 3 brothers, Tom (Deana), Mark & Duane; 3 sisters, Sherry, Connie & Mandy; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Tony & April Cottenmyre; special Aunt, Brenda Cottenmyre and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 9 at the First Baptist Church, 140 Elva Ct., Vandalia with Pastor David Starry officiating. Burial to follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Monday from 5-8 pm. Greg was a devoted husband, was a loving father to Zach & Cody and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
