Family-Placed Obituary
GODFREY, James W. Jr. Age 47 of Waynesville and formerly of Springboro passed away Thurs. Oct. 18, 2007. Jim had been employed for Pella Sales for over 20 years and lately by Erosion Runner. He was a member of the Epiphany Lutheran Church in Centerville and former vice president of the Miami County Home Builder's Assoc. He has coached multiple secondary school sports teams and was very active in the community. He was preceded in death by his father James Godfrey Sr. He is survived by his wife Linda, married 27 years; two sons Patrick and Christopher; his mother Joan Godfrey; two brothers Greg (Jill) and Joe Godfrey; two sisters Susan (Chris) Stout and Jenny (Brant) Throneberry; in-laws Mike and Cathy Hart and Hillary and Tom Gunn; and best friends Jeff Heine and Jay Hafner. Funeral services 11 AM Tues. Oct. 23 at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Centerville. Pastor Fritz Wiese officiating. The family will receive friends 5-8 PM at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. Linda, Joan, and boys,
I realize this expression is late in response, but I there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of this terrible loss. Jim truly knew the meaning of family and will very much be missed. Some of the closest, most joyful, and fondest memories that we have are at our family reunions and holidays with all of you. You will always be a part of our family. These were some of the happiest times in our lives. We are so sorry for your loss. Please know that you are all in our prayers and we love you.

Dear Godfrey Family,
We were so sad and full of sorrow when we heard about Jim's passing. He was such a kind man and he gave so much encouragement to our son Chaston about his sports. It meant so much to Chaston (and us). He made Chaston feel special and because of this, Jim is so dear to us. We feel lucky to have ever had the chance to meet him. He will be missed. Jim was a great guy. I ran cross-contry with Patrick. Jim was always at all the meets. Not only did he cheer all of us on, he rode around on his bicycle to let us know what are times were. i am so sorry for what happened i can still remember when you told me that i should tell the boy how does it feel to be tackled by a girl and then i almost got kicked out of the game. that was a funny day. and it has been one of my favorite stories to tell people. i just have always thought of you as one of the greatest men i have ever known and what you did for the perkins family after chris died was so amazing you just all around where a great person.and i have to say you also made a impact on my life and for that i thank you. so i hope you have fun in those pearly gates with chris tossing the football back and forth waiting to see the rest of your family. ill ill see you again some day.

Iam deeply sorry for your lose. I didnt know Mr. Godfrey all that well but my brother Brad Gardiner and I went to school with his son Chris. Mr. Godfrey was my brothers pee wee coach in school and I know how great of a coach he was and it would have broke my brothers heart to have heard the news. But unfortunitly he passed away 3 months ago. Still i send my condolences and everyone in your family is in my thoughts and prayers. If i can do anything please dont hesitate to ask.
