Jeffrey NEEF Obituary

NEEF, Jeffrey Allen 63, of Estero, FL, died Saturday, September 10, 2016. Formerly of Kettering, OH, he had been an Estero resident since 2007. He was born June 14, 1953 in Kettering, the son of Herbert Carl and Anne Elizabeth (n?e Sakal) Neef. Jeffrey was a board certified physician assistant and a Distinguished Fellow. He practiced dermatology for 34 years, taught dermatology at his alma mater, Kettering College of Medical Arts, was well published and a national speaker. He had a variety of interests, including photographing his vacation trips with his wife. He was honored with a request for one of his Egyptian photographs to be on display along side the Egyptian artifacts from the Cairo museum for the yearlong exhibit at the Dayton Art Institute. Jeffrey was an avid musician, composing pieces and playing in several bands since his teenage years and was a collector of antique automobiles and grower of over 300 orchids. However, most important to Jeffrey was his love for his wife, family, friends and beloved pets (cats aka lions). Jeffrey is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Dr. Phyllis A. (n?e Slusher) Neef; his brother, Douglas Neef; brother-in-law, William (Luann) Slusher; and his nephews and niece, Matthew, Brian, Andrew and Julia Slusher. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister-in-law, Tonia Neef; and niece, Sarah Neef. Visitation will be held from 9am-1pm with a funeral at 1pm, Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering. The burial will take place at David's Cemetery, Kettering, OH. A memorial service will be held in Florida at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to SICSA, www.sicsa.org. or charity of your choice. Condolences and other remembrances may be sent to the family at www.routsong.com.

Hi. Is this the same jeff neef that was a porter at Kettering hospital probably around 1974 or 75? He and I pushed wheelchairs around. He made work fun for us. Rest in peace friend.

As Jeff and I knew each other from church, beginning at kindergarten ages, we spent a lot of time together throughout the many years and enjoyed so many escapades with each other. We joked and laughed, we debated and argued and then laughed again. I've waited these many months before writing this, only because I've been constantly reflecting on the wonderful times that we spent with each other.

I remember his shyness when he wouldn't go to his first dance with Phyllis, unless I went too, but I saw that shyness evolve into great strength.

I will always rejoice in the memories of the times we shared, knowing that when he and I meet again, we'll once again reminisce and laugh together. I miss you, dear friend!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Both of us married our high school sweethearts and our time with them ended way too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sorry for your loss Phyllis. Jeff aka "Hefrow" I called him in the old CT days at Sick-No-More. I'll miss our talks about music and cars and the "spleaf" breaks from time to time.
Hopefully found memories and good times shared through a life time will bring peace and comfort. God Bless you and his extended family.

Dear Phyllis- I'm so sorry for your (and every one else's) loss. Saw Jeff at the Dillon concert this summer. We weren't real close but I always liked him and his sense of humor. At work years ago he used to call everyone "old timer" and if it was lunch time it was time to "put on the feed bag". I send my thoughts and prayers- Mike Cecil

So much going to miss our 30-plus minute talks on the phone where we discussed cars, guitars, orchids, favorite Beatles songs, current events etc. And then he would often call back right after we hung up and say 'oh i remember what I called you for!', and it was something about his insurance. Shocked and saddened by his passing and wish his wife our deepest condolences.

I had the pleasure of working with jeff at dr. Migallys office . He always made work fun. He gave us all nicknames. I remember he loved fresh moral mushrooms and was able to go hunt some with my dad since we have some wooded acreage. He even gave dad his nickname, mushroom jack. He was always doing impressions of Bob Dylan and would say "do you think I sound like him chell?" Any time we had a musical question he was the go to guy. My prayers are with Phyllis and your family. Rest in peace jeff (pine top) you truly are an angel.

I surely miss Jeff, a talented, vibrant, "jolly good" fellow. I am very grateful that he kept in touch, and I am grateful for the musical times we've shared and loved. OM Shanti Shanti Shanti (peace), Phyllis. I know the heartache we feel is not just that we love Jeff, but that we will miss his love for all of us.

To the first PA I worked with, I will never forget you, all the drives with Magdy in the back nor the sound of your singing. God grant you an honored place in His choir.
Rest in Peace, Jeff

Jeff and I were early Fairmont West classmates. I remember Jeff from classes....as we were occasional "conspirators" in activities in the classroom that would get the attention of the teacher.

Jeff would call me "Floom"...I would call him "Neef". As we became juniors and senoirs, I saw much less of Jeff. As many do...after graduation, we lost track of one another.

I am happy to see his great success in life...but greatly saddened at reading about it in an obituary.

I have said prayers for him...and asked my parish to honor him with a mass dedicated to him.

I send condolences to his family.

Jeff's many cousins were saddened to hear the news of his passing. On his mom's side, Jeff had "dozens of cousins" he enjoyed spending time with at family reunions whether during the holidays or at Aunt Rosie and Uncle King's (Poppaw) pool in the summer. While living in Kettering, Ohio, Jeff formerly played guitar in a local band. In fact, Jeff introduced Bruce Stiver, his friend from Fairmont West High School, to his cousin, Molly Szakal. Molly and Bruce's first date was at party where Jeff's band was playing. Molly and Bruce danced to "Good Golly, Miss Molly!" and "Devil with a Blue Dress On." They later married.
Jeff also loved classic cars and was proud of his red two-door 1957 Chevy Bel-Air he drove to family reunions and in local parades throughout the 1970s.
He enjoyed seeing pictures of his relatives with famous people, especially celebrities and musicians.
Jeff will be missed by his aunts, many cousins and special cousin, Molly Stiver.
