Family-Placed Obituary


age 67, of Beavercreek, Ohio, departed this life Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Miami Valley Hospital. A native of Nashville, Tennessee and a resident of the Dayton area the majority of his life. A veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired School Teacher (Coach) of the Dayton Public School System after 34 years of service. He was a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Cooley; father, Alfred E. Cooley, Sr.; brother, Robert "Creep" Cooley; sisters, Sophronia Robinson, Effie Clemmons. Survivors include his wife, Fannie Jordan-Cooley; 1 daughter, Yolanda L. (Sylvester) Mickler; granddaughter, Lazette Carter, all of Beavercreek, OH; stepmother, Eva Cooley; 2 brothers, Alfred E. Cooley, of Dayton, Edward (Elaine) Cooley, of Fort Worth, TX; 2 sisters, Carolyn O. Keith, of Wilmington, DE, Gwendolyn A. Johnson, of Vandalia, OH; 2 aunts, Augusta Webster, Edna Webster; devoted friends, James Moore, Willie Simpson, Mordine Bailey, Donald Elmore and his buddies at Ellison Senior Citizen Center; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 5191 Hoover Avenue. Rev. Dr. Joseph L. Coleman officiating. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Visitation 9 am Thursday at the church until the time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Arrangements entrusted to the HOUSE OF WHEAT Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 North Gettysburg Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association. Cooley family, we have know Mr. Cooley since we were young teenagers @ Stivers Middle School. Mr. Cooley was our health teacher but he was also like a father to us, he kept us Jones kids in line!!
