John RHODES

RHODES Sr., DDS. Dr. John E. "Doc" Age 85 of Brookville, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. John was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, Ohio University and The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He skillfully served his profession for over 34 years in the East Dayton area. John began his longtime faithful service over 45 years ago in the Riverview Masonic Lodge #717, and now the Millennium Lodge #779 F&AM. He was coroneted a Sovereign Grand Inspector General 33rd degree in 1983. He was celebrated as the Class Honoree in 2015 of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. His love of golfing, fishing and Ohio State Football were but a few of Doc's favorite topics and activities. John was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He attended the First United Methodist Church in Brookville. He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 66 years: Lois Jean (Wells) Rhodes, his children: Dr. John E. (Janet) Rhodes Jr. of Brookville, Linda Miller of Monroe, OH, Jeff Rhodes of Altamonte Springs, FL, grandchildren: Ruth Jean Rhodes, Dr. Joseph Matthew (Erica) Rhodes DDS, Leah Marie (Matthew) Trimble, Leslie (Bryan) Dessauer and Gene (Rochelle) Miller, 10 great grandchildren, brother: George Rhodes of Lexington, KY, and many other family members and special friends. John was preceded in death by his parents: John H. & Helen L. (Gimmison) Rhodes. Masonic Services and the funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood) with Rev. Randy Clark officiating. Entombment will be held privately at the David's Cemetery Mausoleum in Kettering. The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. when services begin.
