It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Marjorie Fern Bailey, who left this world on February 5, 2025, at the Westover Retirement Community, at the age of 92. Born on December 15, 1932, in Blair County, Pennsylvania, Marjorie lived a full and vibrant life, filled with love, faith, and family. Marjorie married the love of her life, Robert M. Bailey, on December 6, 1952, in Altoona, a union that spanned almost six decades. Together, they raised three children, David (Sara Golden) John (Annette) and Julie Bakken (Mick Oppy). Since Marjorie and Robert moved to Ohio to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren in 2001, Julie has been a constant and devoted caregiver. She remained by her mother's side through the years with love, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Her selfless care gave Marjorie comfort and peace, and their bond grew even stronger in the closing chapter of Marjorie's life. Her memory will live on through her two granddaughters, Katherine Tenkman (Peter) and Kelly Bakken (Jeremy Boyd), and three great-grandchildren, Cooper (6), Dominic (3), and Geneva (3 months) Tenkman, who brought her endless joy. A lifelong lover of books, Marjorie shared a special bond with her granddaughters, Katherine and Kelly, through their shared love of reading and collecting. They spent countless hours discussing their latest reads, trading books, and discovering new stories. Her passion for literature led her to be an active member in many book clubs, where she made lasting friendships and continued to expand her literary horizons. Marjorie's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a dedicated member of the Hamilton Presbyterian Church, where she found strength, comfort, and a sense of community. She also cherished her time in Bible studies and made enduring connections with those who shared her deep spiritual values. In addition to her love for reading and faith, Marjorie was a steadfast member of her community as a faithful volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Matthew 25 Ministries. She loved to play Bridge and cherished her time in the golf league. She was also an enthusiastic participant in the Red Hat Society, where she found joy in the company of other women who shared her zest for life. Known for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love, Marjorie leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and a life well-lived. She touched the lives of all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt. We take comfort knowing that her memory will continue to inspire us as we carry forward the lessons she taught us about love, patience, and the importance of a good book. Marjorie will be laid to rest beside her husband Robert in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania in a private memorial.
