News Death Notice

FRANZ, Mark P. age 56, of Kettering, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Franz; mother, Clara A. Franz (Imber); and brother, James E. Franz "Jef". Mark is survived by daughters, Nikki L. Franz and Kristi L. Franz; siblings, Judy (Bob) Rueth, Tom (Pat) Franz, Bonnie Franz, John (Anita) Franz, Richard (Debbie) Franz, Mary (Jim) Frommeyer, Sue (Jim) Murphy, Scott (Sandi) Franz and Bob (Debbie) Franz; sister-in-law, Jerri Franz (Jef); many beloved nieces; nephews; relatives; and close friends. Mark was a 1974 graduate of Carroll High School and attended The Ohio State University. He worked his entire 35 year career at the Community Blood Center. Mark was the founding father of the infamous Red Rockets Children's Choir. He was a talented athlete and later a beloved coach and mentor to his daughters and their teammates. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 7pm-12am at the Milton Club (640 Cosler Dr, Dayton, OH 45403). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mark's memory to the Dayton Community Blood Center (349 S. Main St, Dayton, OH 45402). To send a special message, please visit www.NewcomerDayton.com.

The DLSC extends it's condolences to the Franz family. Many of our members played softball with Mark in their younger years. The Dayton softball community will keep Mark and his family in our thoughts and prayers.
