KUSHNIR, Melanie Leigh Of Las Vegas, NV, passed away suddenly on May 28, 2016. Memorial services will be held at Temple Shalom, 4630 Pine Ridge Rd., Naples, FL 34119 on Friday June 3 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, 725 E. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89104 or to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). I was shocked and saddened when I saw the announcement of Melanie's death in the Mortiz College of Law magazine. Even though I haven't seen her since 2000, I carry memories of a passionate advocate for justice, and a bright bright smile.

I was so saddened to learn of Melanie's passing. She was one of the first pro bono professionals I met and I will never forget how excited she made me feel about taking this path. Her enthusiasm and dedication for her clients was inspiring.

To the parents, the loss of a child is so severe, just know that you and your daughter did the best you could do daily and as a result lives were changed. I am sorry that I did not get to meet Melanie but I feel I know her from the words and feelings expressed from family and friends.
