GRIMES, Ray Forrest age 70 of Dayton, passed on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010. Born in Bolivar, TN., son of the late Rev. James R. & Ocie Bell Grimes. Preceded in death sister Doris Johnson & brother Dylan. Survived by Cheryl Grimes, sons Re'shawn & Charrod Grimes, daughter Nicole (Bernard), grandchildren Dominique, Sydney, Charrod Jr., Zaire, Derae', Isaac, Kaira, sister: LaVera Brown, brothers: James (Edwina), Albert (Janice), and Dewey; in-laws William Johnson, Cecilia & James Bacchus, six nieces, a nephew and a host of other relatives and friends. Ray, a graduate of Lane College & Xavier Univ. a retired educator & coach of Dayton Public Schools, member of Omega Baptist Church, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Harmony Lodge, Madden Men Golf Association, and The Volleyball Club, and a former owner of Silver Fox. Memorial Celebration Services: Fri. Nov. 19, Omega Baptist Church Chapel 1810 Harvard Blvd. Dayton, OH 4pm.

To Cheryl and family, Mr. Grimes taught my husband Dale Smith at Roosevelt High School and he was one of my favorite customers at Revco Westown. Mr. Grimes always had a smile on his face. He was a joy to know. I will miss him at the track meets at Welcome Stadium. He is now at peace. I am here when needed.

To The Grimes-Brown Family:
I am so sad to hear of Ray's death. The Grimes, Collier and Franklin families have been friends for many years.I have so many great memories of Ray growing up. Ray was one of my uncle Dempsey Franklin's closest friends, and of course Lavera and my mother,Allura Collier were close lifetime friends until my mother's death.
