Family-Placed Obituary

MODER, Richard passed away on Monday March 24th, 2008 at the Friendship Village Retirement Home in Columbus, Ohio. He was 85 years old. As a native Ohioan, Richard was born May 9th, 1922 in Brewster, Ohio, and spent most of his life living in the Dayton area as an Oakwood resident. Along with his loving wife of 67 years, Marjorie, he dedicated his life to a deep devotion and love for his family. Richard spent his career in sales, retiring from the Blue Bird Baking Company as Vice President of Sales after 38 years of distinguished service. His hobbies included spending time with family, a love of automobiles and racing. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Nellie Moder, sisters Mary Ellen Kelly and Margaret Keeran and brothers Maxwell and William Moder. He is survived by his wife Marjorie, daughter Sharon and her husband Len of Columbus, OH, his son Gerald and his wife Kristine of Grand Rapids, MI and his son Jeffery and his wife Shirley of Dayton. Also surviving are grandchildren Timothy Calland of Atlanta. GA, Tiffany Wagner of Columbus, Michael Moder of Dayton and David Moder of Tampa FL, Katheryn and Alyssia Moder of Dayton, Jeff Madama of Columbus, Amy Madama of Dayton and great grandchildren, Courtney and Jesse Calland of Atlanta, GA, Jaret Wagner of Columbus, Nicholas and Ryan Madama of Columbus, Madison Madama of Dayton and Riley Moder of Dayton and numerous extended family members and friends. The family wishes to extend its deep appreciation and gratitude for the care and concern provided by numerous members of the staff and residents at Friendship Village, as well as, the Zusman Community Hospice of Columbus. We will never be able to thank you enough for the special care you provided our father. Funeral services will be held at Routsong Funeral Home of Kettering located at 2100 E. Stroop Road in Kettering. Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00 PM immediately followed by funeral services. Reverend Carla Stengel will be officiating the services. Internment following the services will be at Woodland Memorial Park of Dayton. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to the Miami Valley Hospital- Cardiology Enrichment Fund.
