RICE, Robert Charles "Bob"

June 30, 1932 –

August 14, 2025

Robert "Bob" Charles Rice, 93, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on June 30, 1932, in Springfield, Ohio, to Everett and Esther Rice. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served honorably during the Korean War as an air traffic controller at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. Upon returning home, he met and married Nancy, also from Springfield, and together they built a life and family of love and devotion.

The couple relocated to Dayton, where Bob studied civil engineering at the University of Dayton before beginning his career with the Miami Conservancy District. He later transitioned into advertising and marketing, holding positions at NCR, State Fidelity Savings, Yeck Brothers, and finally Hyde Park Electronics. Active in his community, Bob was a proud member of the Downtown Dayton Kiwanis Club and the Criterion Club.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Nancy; his children Douglas & husband Anderson, David & partner Andrea, Katherine & husband Steve, and Robert; five grandchildren, Lyndsey, Jacob, Andrew, Nicholas, and Sarah; and two great-grandchildren, Savannah and AJ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Esther, his brother Don, and his sister Patricia.

Bob will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family leave a legacy that will be cherished always.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks.
