Rosetta Bates Obituary

BATES, Rosetta C.

Rosetta Caroline (Leonard) Bates, 101, of Springfield, passed away at 4:12 am, Sunday August 10, 2025, peacefully at home. She was born October 1, 1923, in Thackery and lived in Clark County, Ohio. Rosetta attended Lawrenceville Schools. She was an active member of the Animal Welfare League of Clark County probably for 70 years. She was a cook for Springfield City Schools for 30 years and was a wonderful cook for her family. She had to start cooking for her family when she was 14 after her mother died. Rosetta was a kind and giving woman who promoted the love of animals. She collected dolls and had to refurbish many of them for doll sales for the AWL. Her spare time was spent making quilts by hand. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Elizabeth Helen (Bates) Adams, and several extended family and friends. Rosetta was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Minnie (Rader) Leonard, and her husband, Robert Edwin Bates, of 60 years, and son-in-law, Raymond H. Adams. Friends and family may call at the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, Springfield, from 5-7pm on Thursday August 14th. Graveside services will be held Friday August 15th at 11:00am in Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League of Clark County, 6330 Willowdale Road, Springfield, Ohio 45502.
