HARDY, Ruby J. "Baby" Age 96, of Dayton, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Laurel Wood Senior Living Community on Friday, August 11, 2017. She was born March 22, 1921 in Barbourville, KY. to the late Chester and Emma Love. She received her Bachelor's degree at Kentucky State University and a Master's degree at Kansas University. Ruby was a school teacher for the Dayton Public Schools for 33 years. She was active in the community and enjoyed helping others. Ruby is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Andrew Hardy; sister, Shirley Pope and brother, Ernest Love. She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted son, Brice "Curtis" Sims (Annie); step-daughter, Jean Hardy; (8) grandchildren, Tequita Caldwell (James), Todd Croley (Mattie), Tina Brown (Kerry Sr.), Andr's Sims (Jill), ShaBrice Sims, Joshua & Chase Sims and Reginald Hardy; (14) great grandchildren, (14) great, great, grandchildren; a very special niece, Lettie Bristol; special nephew, Charles Hardy; longtime/best friend, Laura Chavis, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. A special thanks is extended to Maria Joseph Nursing Rehab. Center staff on Emma Hall, the entire staff at Laurel Wood Senior Living, and the entire staff at Hospice of Dayton. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., SATURDAY, August 19, 2017 at The Inspiration Church of God, 2900 Philadelphia Dr., with Pastor Corey Cunningham, Eulogist. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment: West Memory Gardens.
