Sandy BANE Obituary

News Death Notice

BANE, Sandy Sandy was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 23, 1942, and passed away of natural causes at her home on October 14, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Bane, and her parents, Ira and Alice Houck. She is survived by two sisters, Linda and Karen. Left to cherish her memory are family members and many friends. She leaves her beautiful dog, a standard poodle named Butch Barksalot, to the care of a good friend. Sandy was a longtime employee of Federated Department Stores and worked at the Rike's/Shillito's/Lazarus and Macy's stores until her retirement. Sandy will be remembered for her intelligence, her generosity, her extraordinary decorating skills, as well as her wonderful sense of humor. She loved all animals, except spiders, and particularly dogs. She spent many happy hours with her dog and her dog-owner friends at the Webster Street Bark Park and was a generous supporter of the Animal Resource Center. Among other things, she was responsible for providing a watering facility at the Bark Park called "Sonny's Acres" in honor of her beloved poodle, Sonny, who passed away several years ago. A gathering in honor of Sandy will be held at a memorial service on Saturday, April 25, 2015, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the North Chapel of Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio. The memorial service will begin at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, for those so inclined, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice in Sandy's memory. Sandy would have been pleased to know of any donation to the Animal Resource Center, 6790 Webster Street, Dayton, OH 45414; Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420; or Seeing Eye Dogs, Inc., P.O. Box 375, Morristown, NJ 07963.
