News Death Notice

DANOPULOS, Sofia Christina Age 23, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Kettering Medical Center. Sofia was in and out of the hospital, fighting for her life, for one & a half months. She was a member of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, a 2010 Graduate of Miami Valley School, attended Earlham College, received her Associate Degree in Psychology and Art from Sinclair and was currently attending Wright State University. Sofia had a love for Greek culture, spoke Greek & Spanish fluently, enjoyed ballet, did excellent knitting & crochet as a hobby and was an avid traveler. She is survived by her loving parents, Dr. Damian & Irene Danopulos of Dayton; aunts, Kiveli Oralli, Katerina Karakasi & husband Dimitrios; cousins, Ivonni Papageorgiou & husband Anesti, Elisabeth Smyrneos & husband Dimitri, Christ Oralli, Vasilios Karakasi, Elena Oralli, Elina Karakasi, all of Greece; numerous other relatives in Greece; many close friends in Dayton, Boston and Baltimore and Godmother to beloved Amelia Konomos. Funeral service 10AM Saturday, January 9, 2016 at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North with Father Mark P. Emroll officiating. A luncheon will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Memorial Center immediately following the interment at Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Road on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 5-8 PM with Trisagion Prayers at 6 PM.
