Dear Anne, daughters and Peggy Strange,
I cannot express the importance your family had in my young life. Ned and Anne were the perfect example of what a marriage should be and I watched it carefully and tried to learn from it since I had few other good examples to follow. you opened your home and hearts to me especially when I lingered until you invited me to stay for dinner. Still as a 70 year old woman, I am grateful for that.
Peggy, you were my best friend.I am sorry for your loss. I know he will be missed.

Ned and I have been friends since we were 5 years old. He was best man at our wedding and I tried to visit him when we came back to Ohio. I will miss him and I wish the deepest of sympathy to Anne and the girls. John

A short history of long time friends.
I first met Ned at a church youth group meetig at his Dad's place at Fountain Park in Woodstock around 1947. We played on the group's basketball team that year. We also took altar boy training from the Urbana Nuns at St. Michael's in Mechanicsburg.
We were both freshman at OSU. There we solidified our friendship and added Joe Iguchi as a mutual friend.
Ned loaned me his Ford for a date that fall of 1951.
I left school in 52 and joined the Air Force. Ned and Joe saw me off from the Columbus train station.
In 53 Ned applied for and was accepted in the Air Force pilot training program. Unexpectedly, while I was in training at Chanute AFB, Ned showed up and we spent few hours before he shoved off for Texas.
In 55, while I was stationed at Lockbourne and living in the Burg Ned knocked on the door andwe spent the afternoon together. He was then the corporate pilot for Grime's lighting in Urbana. Decades passed until Joe and I visited several years ago when I met Anne for the first time. Joe died last year.
I finished a 35 year Air Force active duty and civilian career in 87. All good things come to an end, alas and adios Ned.
