Warren McCready Obituary


News Death Notice

McCREADY, Warren G. Mac age 88 of Kettering, OH, passed away on November 5, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Warren was born January 16, 1921 in Youngstown, OH, son of the late Thomas and Bessie McCready. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty McCready; sons, Paul McCready (Stephanie) of Cincinnati, OH, Eric McCready (Rosa) of Dallas, TX, Roger McCready (Kathy) of Dayton, OH; grandchildren, Angela, Alyssa, Anna, Thomas and Patric; sister, Helen Campbell (Ralph), of Boone, NC; brother in-law, Dr. James Clark (Mary) of Cheyenne, WY; two nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Campbell and her husband, Jack, of Youngstown, OH. Warren graduated from Muskingum College in January 1943 and Princeton Theological Seminary in 1947. He was ordained as a Presbyterian Minister on July 9, 1946 and fulfilled his vows faithfully and tirelessly until June 2006. He served Woodsfield-Buchanan Presbyterian Church, Woodsfield, OH from 1946 to 1948, Carmichaels Presbyterian Church of Carmichaels, PA from 1948 to 1955, Hamilton Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, PA from 1955 to 1965 and Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church of Kettering, OH from 1965 to 1972. He was a proud member of the Presbytery of Miami Valley since January 1965. From 1972 until 2006, Warren provided pastoral services to 39 of the 63 congregations of the Presbytery of Miami Valley. "Mac" enjoyed to the fullest extent the opportunity to preach and minister to all people. "Mac" knew NO strangers and had a kind word for everyone he met. He loved to talk and always had something to say whether it was an amusing story, joke or historical anecdote. A Celebration of His Life will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 125 North Wilkinson Street, Dayton, OH, on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 1:30 pm. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church (marked music fund), 125 North Wilkinson Street, Dayton, OH 45402 (www.westminsterdayton.org), Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420 (www.hospiceofdayton.org) or to your favorite charity, in Warren McCreadys name.
