I went to see Dr. Dieruf in 1985 to try to arrest my extreme myopia which was getting worse each year. He said my eye muscles had atrophied and surgery was the only option. Insurance would not cover the expense even though he wrote a letter in my behalf. I could not afford the surgery. He said you really cannot afford not to just give me what you can. After the surgery he gave me exercises to do and in a few years I no longer needed glasses. I went from a minus 1200/1300 to minus ,75 . After six months I paid perhaps a thousand dollars of several thousand owed and he instructed the staff to close the account. I am deeply grateful to the kindness he showed me. It was life changing. A very great man.
