Barbara Shaffer Obituary
She was born on December 12, 1947, in Decatur, Indiana, to the late Jake and Lula (Wolfe) Shaffer.
Barb worked for over 20 years for General Electric in Decatur, Indiana. After General Electric closed, she then went to work at UTA in Berne, Indiana, until her retirement 15 years later.
She loved gardening and taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Tony (Michelle) Shaffer of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Kimberly Shaffer of Decatur, Indiana; half-son, Dale Wayne Brown of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Harlan "Bus" Shaffer, of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Bonnie Griggs of Owensboro, Kentucky; brother, David Shaffer of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Larry Shaffer of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Terry (Carla) Shaffer of Convoy, Ohio; sister, Nancy Shaffer of Decatur, Indiana; six grandchildren, Mallory (Jesse) Lawrence, Jarred (Monica) Shaffer, Anthony (Kayna) Shaffer, Kirsten Brown, Korbin Brown, and Konnor Brown; and five great-grandchildren, Caiden Lothamer, Cooper Lothamer, Oliver Brown, Ella Lawrence, and Emmie Lawrence.
Barbara was preceded in death by brothers, Don "Bud" Shaffer, Charles "Short" Shaffer, and Jerry "Jug" Shaffer, and sisters, Patsy Blew, Connie Hess, Ilene Dailey, and Debra Shaffer.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana, with Pastor Ernie Suman officiating. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday.
Preferred memorials can be given to the family (Checks payable to Zwick & Jahn Funeral Homes).
