Alice Hussey Obituary
Age 93, of Wilmington passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital on Saturday, April 6, 2013 surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Hussey was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Ada and Charles Hay. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School and enjoyed her time volunteering for the St. Francis Hospital Junior Board and cooking tremendous meals for her family. Alice was a former member of both St. Mary of the Assumption and St. John the Beloved parishes. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James F. Hussey Sr. in 1986; her son, Thomas in 1999, and her brothers Harvey, Bill, and Stanley, and her sister Ruth Dashper.
Alice will be missed by her son, James F. Hussey Jr. and his wife, Susanne; her daughter-in-law, Eleanor Hussey and her grandchildren, Chris, Dan, Lindsey and Beth.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Alice's caregivers, Eiler and Donna; to the doctors, nurses and staff of the 4th floor at St. Francis Hospital; and to the Christiana Care Family Medicine Unit that helped with Alice's in-home care.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning, April 11, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, at 10:30 am. Friends may call at the church after 9 AM, burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Francis Hospital, 7th and Clayton Streets, Wilmington, DE 19806, or to the charity of your choice.
