Charles Lennon Obituary

Charles C. Lennon, Jr. "Chuck"

AGE: 81 • Wilmington

Peacefully passed away at home on Friday, January 17, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Chuck attended Holy Rosary School in Scranton, PA and proudly served his country during the Korean War. The Lennon family moved to Wilmington in 1954 where Chuck worked for the Lathers Union #108 for 25 years. Finally, in 2008 at the age of 76 he retired from O.C.I. after 20 years of service.

In the 50's, Chuck, along with his brothers, donated his time to help build St Anthony of Padua RCC under the direction of Father Roberto Balducelli. He enjoyed backyard BBQ's, playing horseshoes, golf and bowling, but most of all he treasured spending time with his family.

Chuck was the son of the late Charles and Irene Lennon, formerly of Scranton, PA. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph Lennon and Arthur (Abe) Lennon and grandson, Michael. He is survived by his loving wife (sweet heart) and best friend of 57 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Wallace Lennon; his devoted and loving children, son, Charles C Lennon III (Charlie) of Elkton, and his daughters, Margaret (Maggie) Parrott (James) of Northeast, Elizabeth (LeeAnn) Stevenson (Thomas) of Middletown, Theresa Bullock (Jamie) of Newark, and Mary Lloyd of Wilmington; 14 grandchildren, Nicole, Chip, Lindsay, Tori, Jimmy, Rich, Amy, Gary, Michelle, Andrew, Jacob, Danielle, Stephanie and Matthew and seventeen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret (Peggy) Owens, Mary (Molly) Holmes, and brothers, Mathew (Matty), James (Jimmy), John, and Michael (Mike) Lennon; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In memory of Chuck contributions can be made to Seasons Hospice and St Elizabeth Church in lieu of flowers.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25th at 11 AM at St. Elizabeth Church, 809 S Broom St, Wilmington, DE, where friends and family are invited to visitation after 10 AM. Interment will be private. MealeyFuneralHomes.com (302) 652-5913
