Dear Linda, Lisa, Jeff, Doug, and Gretchen,
I'm sorry to hear of your husband and father's passing. I learned so much about Dan from the wonderful obituary. What an accomplished and productive life of service and love! It sounds like he touched many lives in many ways. And I'm confident of his love for and pride in each of you. Although my interaction with your family was primarily from my childhood, I've always admired the Butlers! I have fond memories of your magical house in Wallingford and the many parties and picnics. Linda, I know that my parents counted you and Dan as special in their relational circle! My brother John Grant and my sister Liz send their condolences as well.
I know your hearts are really full in these days. And I am convinced that God is a gracious steward of full hearts. So I entrust your family to God in prayer, knowing that He is faithful and able to walk you through this season.

Dear Linda -- your sadness is our sadness.
In 1961 at Colonial Arms apartments, Swarthmore, Olav and I were your neighbors. Dan and you were our first friends. We had a lot in common as newlyweds and new parents; you and Dan were kind and gracious. It is difficult to realize that so many years have passed. We went our separate ways as natural; but we remember you very well, even the pancake dinner at your new home in Wallingford.
It was so sad to read about your wonderful loving Dan. Even though we lost touch, we send our condolences to you and family.

My wife Sandi and I send our "Prayers for the Peace that Passeth Understanding" on the passing of Dan Butler.
I knew Dan for many years, likely almost 25, in that cordial, casual, friendly Delaware business casual way. We had lunch together on a few occasions, and I always admire his professionalism, courtesy, demeanor and most important his obvious and apparent caring. When a friend was in transition, Steve Gades, I sent him to Dan and to Bruce Winn, who hired him, and today Steve is one of CSC's senior execs. On the occasion of CSC's 100th anniversary, and again later on its move into Little Falls, Dan and Bruce hired me to help orchestrate the public / employee celebration of the events.
CSC HQs, the new global HQs that Dan and Bruce built, is only a block from my home, I pass it daily, and I always remember Dan kindly. My condolences to his family.

Dear Linda,
Dot and I were shocked and saddened at the news of Dan’s passing.
He was such a pleasant person to be around, with a cheerful demeanor and always positive and encouraging. I never got to spend much time with Dan, but the few occasions we did share together were such good times. Dan possessed a rare quality - he made people feel good. He was a great man and a joy to be with.
Please know that you have our deepest sympathy and are in our thoughts and prayers.
