Our grandfather was absolutely one of a kind. He had a strong assertiveness to him that I can say I am blessed to have learned. Poppop always had the best stories. From telling over and over about his days in the band or the sparkle in his eye when he talked about the first time he seen Vicki. I was blessed to have seen him in February. We sat and he told me stories of him and his brother. He reminded me of things that we did when I was a little girl that I couldn’t believe I had forgotten. Like riding around on the back of the tractor, chasing the chickens through his yard, and swimming in the pool. His love of old cars is something that I believe I got from him. He always made everyone smile whether it was his jokes, some that I probably shouldn’t have heard, or his over all love for his family. He never missed a holiday or birthday, making sure he called and left messages. I’m going to miss those voice mails “hi darlin, it’s your poppop” but I know that he is at peace. I know that the smile on his face when he seen Vicki waiting for him was the biggest.
Poppop, we love and miss you so much. We are better people because of the person that you were. I am so happy that we have the memories we have and will cherish them forever.
