Edward Powers Obituary

Edward D. Powers

Easton, MD - Edward D. Powers, age 88, passed away at his residence in Wilmington, Delaware on March 9, 2021.

He was born and raised in NYC and was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Powers. Ed graduated from St. John's University in NYC and received his MBA from Fairleigh Dickenson University, Madison, NJ. He worked for Mueller Manufacturing, Decatur, IL and retired in 1986 as CEO and served on the Federal Reserve Board of Chicago from 1985 and 1990. He continued working on other business ventures well into his 70's.

Ed had a life-long love of boating and especially sailing. He kept his extended family connected by hosting family reunions, some lasting 2-3 days.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Doris (Oshinski); 5 children, Claudia Powers (Charlie Lucas), Christopher Powers (Beth), Richard (Suzanne), Steven (Candy) and Donna Ealy, daughter-in-law, Dolly Powers; 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 siblings Arthur Powers (Rosemary) and Joan Anne Healy. Ed was also preceded in death by his son, Gregory Powers and 3 siblings, Joseph, Eleanor Preston and Jean Farrell.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 16, from 10-11 am at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington. Due to the present pandemic, Mass and burial will be held privately. Visitation will be held in accordance with the current health directives, wearing masks, social distancing and capacity requirements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
