Jeanette Wyatt Obituary
AGE: 89 • Wilmington
Jeanette S. Wyatt, a lifelong resident of the Wilmington area, died at her Brandywine Hundred home on Wednesday evening, May 10, 2017.
Daughter of Basil and Josephine Strychaluk, Jean was a graduate of Wilmington High School. A child of the Great Depression era, she knew the value and importance of hard work and thrift. Literally, Jean worked her entire adult life, retiring just last December at the age of 88, from the Wilmington Public Library where she had been a fixture for many years. In her spare time, Jean loved to travel and always enjoyed the casinos - where she wouldn't spend over her $25 limit on the slot machines. She was proud to be a member and former officer of Ruth Chapter #19, Order Of The Eastern Star.
Her husband, Joseph E. Wyatt died in 1984 and she was also preceded in death by her sister, Pauline S. Welch and her brother, Julian "Chuck" Strychaluk. Jean is survived by 2 daughters, Diane Wyatt-Armstrong (Guy) and Sharon Clark (Michael); 3 grandchildren: Julie Burnett (Dave), Nathan Henry (Rachel) and Stefany Clark; and 3 great-grandchildren, Erin Burnett and Desmond and Donovan Henry.
Jean's family would like to thank the staff at Heartland Hospice, especially Charlene, Debbie D., Sharon, and Mia, for their loving care.
The funeral service will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, and to honor Jean's grand-nephew Matthew, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Easter Seals Delaware & Maryland's Eastern Shore, 61 Corporate Circle, New Castle, DE 19720 or a charity of your choice. I'm so sorry for your family's loss. My late Dad, Charles Wyatt, referred to her as Aunt Jeanette. I believe he had a cousin named Diane. My mom, Jo Ann still sent Aunt Jeanette Christmas cards every year. I would love to connect with Diane. Prayers for your family.

I only worked briefly with Jeanette at the Wilmington Library but I saw her more frequently on Dart Route #35 with Matthew where she was a fixture. I still imagine her on the bus or here at work. Well done, Jeanette. Rest in Peace.

Jeanette was a remarkable woman, in so many ways, too numerous to list.
I was privileged to have Jeanette as a co-worker for many years and I have learned a great deal from her; life lessons I will try to practice.
My sincerest sympathy to the entire family.

My thoughts are with the family during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there is a hope for our love ones lost in death can be reassuring.
