Kevin Dill Obituary

Mr. Kevin E. Dill, age 50, of Dagsboro, DE, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 12, 2011.

Born in Chester, PA, on July 9, 1961, Kevin was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in Wilmington and would go on to serve his country proudly in the US Marine Corps. In civilian life, he was employed as a public works technician for the Sussex County Engineering Department in Georgetown. A talented boat captain and scuba diver, he had also worked as a senior captain and salvage diver for Tow Boat US in the Indian River/Lewes Division.

Active in volunteer fire service throughout his life, Kevin was a dedicated member of the Roxana Volunteer Fire Company, where he had served as tower captain, tower lieutenant, and a member of the Tower 90 Committee. Previously, he was a member of the Brandywine Hundred Fire Company and the Millville Volunteer Fire Company. He served on the fire rescue team at Dover Downs each year during the NASCAR races as well.

Kevin was an avid outdoorsman from his youth and particularly enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He was also a Harley-Davidson enthusiast for many years. A skilled and creative woodcarver, he made many beautiful pieces of artwork to decorate his home and to present as special gifts. He especially delighted in cooking wonderful meals for his family and his many friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Denise A. Marcinizyn Dill; children, Nichole Hayes (Chris Connolly) of Bethany Beach, Tina Hayes of Bear, Stefanie Hayes (fianc?, Matt Griffis) of Clarksburg, MD, and Jason Hayes of Dagsboro; mother, Connie Hobbs of Wilmington; brothers, Keith Dill (Cecilia) of Wilmington, James Hobbs II of Oxford, PA, and Chuck Hobbs (Dawn Bradley) of Wilmington; grandson, Andrew Connolly; three nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Dill.

A memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Sunday, July 17, at the Roxana Volunteer Fire Company, 35943 Zion Church Road, Frankford, where visitation will begin at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Kevin to the Roxana Volunteer Fire Company, 35943 Zion Church Road, Frankford, DE 19945; or to the Nanticoke Indian Association, 27073 John J. Williams Highway, Millsboro, DE 19966.

Gee Kevin, we just met a friend of yours this week. He served on the Fire Squad and knows of Denise, you and family. That would be Cody Lockwood and we now have his acquaintance through purchasing a new apartment in a senior living community, Each year we are reminded of you and again, missing you. Rest in eternal peace;
you live on in our thoughts

His memory is still in our thoughts. Kevin was such a fine gentleman and just a little story about him. We wanted mulch around our shore home and when we came down the next weekend, it was bought and spread just perfect by Kevin. Thank you again for your thoughtfulness. You are still thought of and very much missed, our friend
