Martha M. Chmielewski

Wilmington - Martha M. Chmielewski (Nee: Mieczkowski), 101, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully in her son and daughter-in-laws home on July 8, 2021. Born in Reading, PA on May 30, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Stella and Anthony Mieczkowski.

She graduated from St Mary's High School in Chester, PA.

She was a sought after florist for over 20 years, working at different flower shops in Wilmington. Her specialty was weddings and she designed and put together flowers for many weddings in her family over the years.

She took care of her mother for over 50 years until she passed away at the age of 105. She also babysat her grandchildren for many years. She enjoyed watching The Game Show Network and doing Sudoku and Cryptogram puzzles.

In addition to her parents Martha was predeceased by her late husband Theodore John Chmielewski in 1985, who was the love of her life, her brother Theodore and sisters Bert, Tessie and Jeannie.

She is survived by her son Theodore and his wife Vera of Newark, DE, whom she lived with since 2012, her beloved grandchildren, Denise (Jeff) Snyder and Dan (Cindy) Chmielewski all of New Castle, DE, her great grandson Jeffery (Alexandria) Snyder of Bellevue, NE and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held 11am on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Charles P. Arcaro Funeral Home, 2309 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington, DE. 19805. Service will begin at 12noon. Burial will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association.
