Teresa Rose "Terry" Gommer

Teresa Rose "Terry" Gommer "Shaffer", age 73, of Wilmington DE, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 12, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Bernard and Mary Frances (Pepe) Shaffer. Terry graduated from DeLaWarr High School in 1970. Following graduation, she worked as a hairdresser then to retail. For the next 20 plus years, she worked for Bank of New York as a data processor/analyst. Terry was an avid shopper who delighted in finding just the right item. Her creativity shone through her love of knitting and crocheting. She would never turn down a good ride in the car for a random, unplanned trip and loved her desserts. One of Terry's greatest joys was spending time camping with her family. She also treasured time with her friends, especially going to bingo.

Terry leaves behind family and friends who will miss her deeply and carry her memory in their hearts always.

Terry is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Leslie John Gommer, Jr.; children, Jennifer Presley (Robert); Kevin Gommer (Tiffany), and grandchildren, Robbie, Vicki, Ramie, Alyssa, Amanda, Kayla, Zack, Natalie, Zoey, and Kevin; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Maryann Welkey (Jack); Many nieces and nephews and 3 special friends who were dear to her heart, Millie Hayes, Nona Lewis, and Mary Creswell.
