Nicholas Wasylczuk, age 80, of Chesapeake City, MD died April 14, 2005 in Union Hospital, Elkton, MD. Born to the late Paul and Lena Wasylczuk.
Nicholas was a painting contractor and member of Local Union #923. He was a decorated Veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army where he served in the European, Africa and Middle Eastern Theatres. He was a member of the VFW in Chesapeake City, MD and of the Knights of Columbus where he participated in their charitable event fund raisers. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church where he devoted time and energy in helping to maintain the upkeep of the church property and supported church functions. He also was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anna B. Wasylczuk of Chesapeake City, MD; also survived by 5 children, Katheryn Anna Mathes of Waldorf, MD, Nicholas G. Wasylczuk of Accokeek, MD, Michael P. Wasylczuk of Arlington, VA, James P. Wasylczuk of Chesapeake City, MD and Mary Lynn Lindemann of Chelsea, MI; 1 sister, Anne Smith of Alderson, WV; 3 grandchildren, Justin Wasylczuk, Michael Mathes and Nikolas Jonkman. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Harbec; and 2 brothers, William and Peter Wasylczuk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 18, 2005 at 11 am in the St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Basil's Avenue, Chesapeake City, MD. Family and friends may call on Sunday evening, April 17, 2005 from 7-9 in the R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, MD 21915 and also on Monday morning, April 18, 2005 after 10. Burial will be in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Chesapeake City, MD.
