Paul Ravilious Obituary

Paul W. Ravilious

Fenwick Island - Paul W. Ravilious, 92, of Fenwick Island passed away on Thursday, April 22nd peacefully at home with his devoted wife of 45 years, Elizabeth (Liz) Piccirilli Ravilious and other loved ones.

Paul was born December 3, 1928, to Florence Foote and Ryan Lewis Ravilious in Hockessin, DE. He grew up in Yorklyn and lived in Delaware all of his life. Prior to starting his own business (Odessa Packaging), Paul did technical engineering for Container Corporation and Ethel Corporation. He ran Odessa Packaging for more than a decade before retiring in Fenwick. Paul was very active in the Fenwick Island Lion's Club serving the community by fundraising-collecting cans and working the annual Spaghetti Dinner (even though he had no prior cooking experience) and always lent a hand to friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed boating and fishing which led him and others into a few hair-raising adventures. Paul had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to play cards and games with family and friends. But most of all, Paul was a kind and generous man, wonderful husband, Dad, PopPop, GrandPopPop, uncle, and friend to many.

Paul was predeceased by his parents; first wife, Elsie Warrick; brother, Howard; sisters Betty Hildenbrand and Ruth Peters; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Ravilious. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Elizabeth (Liz) Ravilious; sons, Ronald Ravilious and Carl (Patti) Ravilious; daughters, Carol Duncan and Sara Ann (Mike) Schiavoni; grandchildren, Jason Duncan, Andy (Courtney) Duncan, Lynn Schiavoni (Nate Small), Dominick (Lee) Schiavoni, Michael Schiavoni (Claire Knowlton); great-grandchildren, Claudia & Vienna Small, Sophie Schiavoni, and Maddox Duncan.

The family would like to thank DE Hospice and caregivers, Amanda and Regina, who all helped improve Paul's quality of life.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 27th from 10am to 12pm at Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home, 19 S. Main St. in Selbyville. A viewing will also be held on Wednesday, April 28th from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd. in Wilmington. A graveside service at Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Ave. in Wilmington will be held at 1:30pm on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his name to Fenwick Island Lion's Club, 37232 Lighthouse Road, Ste. 109, West Fenwick, DE 19975.
