Richard Degnars Obituary
Age 66, passed away suddenly on Wednesday morning, March 21, 2012.
Rit was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and uncle, as well as a loyal and extraordinary friend to many. An accomplished musician, during the late 60's/early 70's he shared the stage nearly every night with his brother, playing his beloved Hammond B3 organ. For a period of time, he served his country in the military where he worked as a cook. Rit was employed at Hewlett-Packard where he climbed the ranks to a high level management position. After 30 years with HP, he dedicated another decade of his expertise to Agilent Technologies. In his retirement, he purchased a Cappriotti's Sandwich Shop, which he proudly turned into a thriving business. He was a baseball coach, music supporter, and loved playing golf. One of his favorite pastimes was enjoying good wine and conversation with family and friends. His unique personality, outgoing presence, and invaluable guidance will be dearly missed.
Rit was preceded in death by his father, Richard Joseph Degnars Sr., his mother, Mary Jane, and his precious wife, Donna. He is survived by his brother, Michael and his wife Dolores; his son, Rich and his wife Veronica, and their children, Damian and Sabrina; his daughters, Gina and Kristin; his mother-in-law, Anne Saragino; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike in Hockessin, on Tuesday morning, March 27 at 11am. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave. in Wilmington, on Monday evening, March 26 from 6-9pm. No visitation will be held on Tuesday morning prior to mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place. Memphis, TN 38105.
