Sharon Stefano Obituary

Sharon di Stefano

Wilmington - Sharon di Stefano peacefully passed away Tuesday, August 28th in her childhood home in Greenville, Delaware surrounded by family and loved ones. She was 62 years old and fought a courageous year long battle with cancer.

Sharon was a beautiful, lively and witty woman who brought joy to everyone who knew her well. She was a loving mother to her son, Taylor Ponton, and a beloved daughter of Rosemarie di Stefano and sister of Jaime di Stefano. She was very close to her cousins: Denise, Nancy, Bobbie, Karen and Vicki. In addition, she will not be forgotten by Bill Ponton and Joe Munson who had the rare opportunity to share their lives with a truly remarkable woman.

Sharon graduated from University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts and Johns Hopkins University with a Master's of Science. She had a celebrated career as an equity research analyst and writer with prestigious Wall Street firms spanning several decades and was repeatedly ranked as a Wall Street Journal 'All Star' analyst. In print and in person, Sharon's wit and charm shined brightly.

Sharon had a passion for interior decoration and refurbishment of antiques. Her adventurous side took her to the mountains in Morocco, the Mayan pyramids deep in the Yucata´n jungle and beneath volcanic peaks on a beach in St. Lucia.

Finally, it must be noted that she loved her three dogs: Puggy, Sammy and Winston. The image of her sitting on the couch, cuddling up with one of them and watching the SyFy channel is one that is familiar to all who knew Sharon well.

A 12 noon funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 901 N. DuPont St. on Tuesday, September 4th, 2018. Visitation will begin at 11am. Interment will be private.
