Todd Meredith Obituary

Todd D. Meredith

Todd D. Meredith, 55, a lifelong resident of Delaware, passed away at his Talleyville home after waging a valiant 8 year battle against prostate cancer.

Todd was raised in Fairfax and was a 1976 graduate of Brandywine High School. He attended Emory and Henry College in Virginia and graduated in 1981 with a degree in Business. While at college, he met the love of his life, Sandy, and they were married in 1982. After graduation, Todd began his career with Hercules as an operations manager. A dynamic salesman, Todd then went into sales with Albright & Wilson, then Lambent Technologies, and ultimately PPG - always in chemical sales with his territories in the Northeast. Outside of work, Todd was a consummate car enthusiast and his talents ranged from building to restoring muscle cars, his favorite being his '69 Camaro. Todd had been the proud owner of a Honda Goldwing motorcycle and enjoyed taking it on the open road, including many long trips with friends. Todd coached Naamans Little League and Concord Soccer. He was the "mayor" of Sliverside Swim Club and was a 38 year member of Talleyville Volunteer Fire Company where he had held the office of fire recorder, served on the Board of Directors, and frequently made the top responders list. He had reached his lifetime active status in the fire department. He enjoyed photography and woodworking and, in honor of his children, watching Mountaineer (West Virginia University) and Buckeye (The Ohio State Universtiy) football.

Todd is survived by his wife, Sandra H. Meredith; their 2 children, Drew and Amy; his mother, Julia H. Meredith; his sister Pamela M. Cardoni (Aldo); niece Kimberly and nephew Tim. He was preceded in death in 2013 by his father, LeRoy F. Meredith.

Todd's family extends their appreciation to Dr. Stephen Grubbs and his staff at the Helen Graham Cancer Center along with the staff of Delaware Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.

Friends are invited to a visitation with Todd's family from 12 - 2, Sunday, June 15 at Rockwood Museum Carriage House, followed at 2:00 by a service of celebration for Todd's full life where an opportunity will be given to share a favorite memory. The family suggests honoring the memory of Todd D. Meredith by sending a contribution to the Delaware Valley Camaro Club, 4 Jarrell Farm Drive, Newark, DE 19711. Dear Sandra, Drew and Amy. I am so sorry to hear about Todd's passing. I considered Todd a friend and confident. He was the account representative for Glatfelter Paper. He represented PPG and Axiall with extreme professionalism, and was a wonderful advocate for his customers. Most importantly to me was his compassion as a human. As he was fighting his battle with cancer, my wife lost her 10 year battle with Leukemia. Todd was always concerned about my well being following her passing, while he too was fighting for his life. I admire his strength, his optimism and his love of his family and the life he lived. He was a wonderful man and he will be missed. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss, and I hope that your faith strengthens you through your healing process. Sincerely, Mark

Sandy,
I read with sadness today that Todd had lost his long battle with cancer. Hopefully he is at rest without the struggle to beat the disease. I know that you and the family will be bolstered by the many memories that you shared along the way.

I will always recall Todd's enthusiasm and positive attitude especially in pursuing his goal of getting a sales territory (and that blue company car). Long after achieving that I saw him and praised him on having the dream and living it with such a joyful attitude.

I know that God will bless all of you as you deal with your loss.

Sincerely

John Montgomery

I knew him through his children when they attended Brandywine High School. He was a ray of light, always with a funny joke or just a big bright smile. Above all else he loved Sandy and his children. He will be sadly missed, he touched so many lives.
